Archives Description¡G

This project digitizes the archaeological data and related information housed in the Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica. 1. Chinese archaeological data which were collected before 1949 including the Lung-shan culture area in Shantung Province, other Neolithic sites around China, late Shang civilization of Anyang, Western Chou Site of Hsin-ts'un cemetery in Chun-hsien, Honan, Eastern Chou cemeteries of Shan-piao-chen and Liu-li-ko. These excavations were conducted by the first generation of Chinese archaeologists in the early part of the 20th century. Certain finds such as Shang Royal Cemetery are unique and were never found again during later archaeological endeavors. 2. Taiwan archaeological data which were collected after 1949 including Shih-san-hang site in Taipei County, sites located in the middle of Taiwan which were explored by researchers working on an interdisciplinary project in the Cho-Shui and Ta-tu River Valleys (also including ongoing archaeological projects in this area), as well as important sites in the southern and eastern part of Taiwan.. Excavations after 1949 provide indispensable information about many aspects of prehistorical life as well as early history and culture in Taiwan. Besides database, online games and websites based on the content of digitized archaeological data have also been developed. The project homepage of Archaeological Data is a bilingual webpage which includes 8 parts: about the project, the digital archives of archaeological data, archaeology discovery zone, related documents, related IHP resources, related links, bulletin board, and about us. "About the project" introduces the project content, goals, timeline and research materials. "The digital archives of archaeological data" links to Online Public Access Catalogue for the Digital Archives of Archaeological Data. "Archaeology discovery zone" has 2 pop-science websites: Over View of Shang Dynasty Chariots and Come to Visit Taiwanese Archaeological Sites with Us and 3 online games: Ah-wen's Adventure, Cutie Long's Challenge, and My Scrapbook. "Related documents" provides users the metadata of this project to download. "Related IHP resources" has 8 links of the IHP (Institute of History and Philology) archaeological related websites. "Related links" is archeological related website links of the 5 continents. "Bulletin board" announces the related new of this project. "About us" is a list of project working members.
